School History
Rich in history, dating back to shortly after the Civil War, Nolensville
School has been an established institution in Williamson County for over
100 years. The school's present building was opened in 1972. Since that
time three additions to the school have taken place with the most recent
wing opening in the Fall of 1996. Present enrollment of just over 400
students, Nolensville is projected to increase its population with the
expansion of various subdivisions in Nolensville.
Before/After
School Care
Fun Company is run by the Brentwood YMCA in our building. Please
contact them at 373 – 0215 or 533 – 2047. There are several other
neighborhood childcare facilities in Nolensville that also provide
before/after school care.
Parent/Teacher
Conferences
Teachers are available to confer with parents at anytime during the
year. Please call or email to set up an appointment. In September we
have a day set aside for formal parent/teacher conferences. Teachers
will contact you to set up an appointment.
Parent Support
Organization
Parent involvement is always welcomed. The PTO provides extensive
programming and financial support to the school. Many parents are
involved on a daily basis as classroom volunteers. Parents are welcome
at Nolensville!
Academics
Nolensville Elementary is accredited by the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools. We follow the standards set by the state of
Tennessee. That curriculum can be found at
http://www.state.tn.us/education/mcurriculum.htm. In addition to
our general curriculum, our students are regularly involved in music,
art, PE, library, and guidance (K – 5). We do provide special education
and gifted education for students who have specific needs.
Special
Programs
Each year we provide enriched opportunities for students including
assemblies, field trips, participation in our Interest Fair, 4-H in
grade 4, and Junior Achievement/Exchange City in grade 5. We also
provide several after-school opportunities including Destination
Imagination, Math Club (grades 3 – 5), Newspaper, and Chorus (grade 5).
Library/Media
Center
Our entire media center is computerized. Students are able to search for
books and information on our computer terminals. In addition to checking
out books, students learn various software applications through the
media center. We use the Accelerated Reading Program to promote
independent reading.
Guidance
Nolensville has a full-time guidance counselor who teaches guidance
classes regularly in grades K – 5. In addition, he works with grades 3
– 5 on special units such as study skills. He also meets with
individual students as needed and with small groups. Parents are also
welcome to contact our guidance counselor to discuss student issues.
Sports
The Nolensville Division of the Williamson County Parks and Recreation
Department provides both Fall and Spring sports to our community.
Partnerships
Several businesses in Nolensville contribute to our programs and special
events. We appreciate the support of the community.
