School History
Oak View opened its doors on November 22, 1993 . It is a K-5 elementary school with an enrollment of 550.

Before/After School Care
SACC: School Age Child Care is offered before and after school as well as snow days. There is also a summer program. The program offers academic and enrichment classes for all students.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parents will receive a progress report at the midway point of our 9 week grading period. Parents who have questions should address their concern(s) to the teachers. Teachers will invite all parents to conferences in the fall and spring. Additional conferences are held as needed at parent or teacher request. Parent conferences are held by appointment only.

Parent Support Organization
The PTA is Oak View's official parent support group, providing extensive program and financial support to the school. Many parents also are involved on a daily basis as classroom volunteers.

Special Programs
In addition to K-5 classroom curriculum, Oak View has specialized curriculum in music, art, math specialist, library, physical education, resource, gifted and guidance. A networked computer lab, wireless communication capabilities, one SMARTBoard Interactive Whiteboards in Grades K, 1, 3,4 & 5.  There are two in second grade with plans to have more during the 2008-09 school year, Internet access, projectors in each classroom and special classrooms and at least three networked workstations in every classroom provide the infrastructure for state-of-the-art educational technology use.

Library/Media Center
An average of 350 students per day use the school library. Participation in the Accelerated Reader program coordinated by the school library has increased during this fourth year of the program.

Partnerships
We strongly believe in partnerships between businesses and school. Each of these organizations assists in keeping our school an enjoyable place to learn by donating time, contributions, gifts and even professional development for our faculty and staff.

Extra Curricular Activities
Odyssey of the Mind; Writer's Workshop; After-Hour Owls tutoring program; Newspaper Club; Yearbook Club; Chess Club; Oak View basketball; Brownies; and Cub Scouts.

Site Based Management
Site-based management is a process that involves parents, faculty, and administrative staff in making decisions to meet the needs of students and the community. At Oak View, parents, faculty, and staff work together to improve education for all students.
