School History
In 1981, Page Middle opened its doors for the first time, donning a name
steeped in local Williamson County school history. Fred J. Page, a
former Superintendent of Schools, began his career in 1899 and served in
that position for forty-two years. The Page Middle community has seen
extensive growth in population over the past several years. Page
Middle’s enrollment figures correspondingly rose with the influx of new
county residents.
Community
Page Middle is located in the southeast corner of Williamson County, but
draws students from over 30% of the geographic area of the county. Our
enrollment reflects stable, nurturing homes with working parents in
professional and blue collar occupations. Our student body includes a
variety of ethnic backgrounds including students from several foreign
countries. This diversity makes Page Middle unique to other middle
schools in Williamson County.
Athletics
The sports program of Page Middle includes baseball, basketball,
basketball cheerleading, cross country, dance, golf, football, football
cheerleading, soccer, softball, tennis, track, volleyball, wrestling,
and wrestling cheerleading.
Extra Curricular
Activities
Other activities, clubs and organizations offered at Page Middle are:
chess, Destination Imagination, drama, newspaper, peer mediation, band,
jazz band, STARS, yearbook, Student Leadership Team, etc.
Guidance
Our counselors address the needs of our students through consultation
with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and psychologists. The
school counselors plan activities to help students learn to accept
responsibility, make employment decisions, and develop good study
skills. Small groups are formed throughout the year to assist in
transition of new students, as well as developing strategies for
students dealing with grief, anger, divorce, low self-esteem, and other
issues.
Library Media Center
The library staff has developed tools and materials to benefit our
students and directly support the Page Middle reading goals. Through
collaboration with both students and teachers, our librarian has
successfully created a new awareness of the numerous media tools
available.
Parent/Teacher
Conferences
Parents will receive a progress report and newsletter every 4 ˝ weeks.
Teachers will schedule parent-teacher conferences each semester.
Additional parent conferences may be scheduled any time during the year
concerning academic progress and/or behavioral issues.
Parent Support
Organization
Parent volunteers from the PTO provide numerous services for students
and teachers, including constructing bulletin boards, laminating,
providing library assistance, and making copies. Additionally, they
sponsor the school dances and provide chaperones for many extra
curricular activities.
Site Based Management
Daily operational decisions, long range goals, and planning for Page
Middle are the combined efforts of the administration and staff.
Student Services
The student services department at Page Middle is designed to provide
the least restrictive environment that promote academic success for each
of our students. A variety of services and staff are available for our
students with special needs, including certified special education
teachers, a school psychologist, an occupational therapist, a speech
therapist, and an English as a Second Language instructor. Speech and
language services offer comprehensive testing, direct consultation,
determination of interventions, and therapy for all types of
communication disorders. Additionally, adaptive devices to facilitate
learning are provided when deemed appropriate.
Students who are identified as gifted work under the oversight of the
gifted consultant. Instruction and enrichment activities are provided to
enhance the curriculum and challenge students both individually and in
small groups.
STARS
Our STARS counselor works in harmony with the guidance office to
facilitate small group sessions. They sponsor several events and
assemblies during the year to increase awareness of drug and alcohol
related issues, and to promote healthy and safe alternatives for our
students. |
