ATTENDANCE

Students must come to school on time every day.  When your child returns to school following an absence, please send a note stating the reason for the absence.  Absences will be considered UNEXCUSED until a written note is submitted.  Excused absences include:

    • illness (Dr.'s statement is required for 10 or more consecutive days.)
    • death in the family
    • religious holiday ( A statement from the religious group leader is required.)
    • other reasons must be submitted to the principal for consideration prior to the incident.
    • excused absences are counted toward the total number accumulated per child.

By law, more than five (5) unexcused absences will result in a referral to the juvenile court for a hearing.  Parents will receive a letter and the Director of Schools will be notified.  After 10 absences, a doctor's note must accompany the child upon his/her return to school.  This includes both excused and unexcused absences.

If your child must be excused during the day for an appointment, please send a note stating the reason and the time for dismissal. NO STUDENT WILL BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE SCHOOL GROUNDS UNLESS HIS/HER PARENT (OR DESIGNEE ) COMES TO SCHOOL TO SIGN THE STUDENT OUT Be prepared to show photo ID.  No student will be dismissed after 3:10.  All car riders after this time will be picked up in the car rider line.  Children who are car riders will be dismissed at 3:35.

Please check your student out through the office and wait in the office area for the student to be called.  No students will be dismissed to parents (or caregivers) in hallways or directly from classrooms. For safety reasons, during regular dismissal, car riders will dismissed ONLY through the car rider line (Hawk Walk door).

PERFECT ATTENDANCE

Annual perfect attendance awards are given at the end of the year based on the State time requirements for perfect attendance.  The accumulation of five or more tardies and/or early dismissals will disqualify a student from receiving this recognition.

PHONE NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

Our school and school district have a great way to keep you, as parents, informed.  We will be using Blackboard Connect, Inc., to keep you in the know about school and district events and to notify you in case of an emergency.  Our transportation department will call you if your child's bus is running more than 15 minutes late in the afternoon.  The system also has an e-mail feature that allows an email to be sent to you as well as the phone call.  In addition, the school office will use this system to notify you when your child is not in school.

Please make sure that important contact information such as phone numbers and email addresses are correct and legible and on file in the school office.  Any time a change occurs, please notify the school office.  Our system will call up to six phone numbers in case on an emergency.  Other messages will be sent to the main number listed.

We are excited about this technology, because we believe it helps us keep you better informed about our schoo and events affecting your children.
