Diarrhea
 

- Remove all milk products (except yogurt-can have 2-3 servings per day) from diet until diarrhea nearly resolved.  If not possible, keep to < 3 servings per day

- Give mostly water, pedialyte or ½ Gatorade and ½ water for all fluids

- No fruit juices, unless very watered down.

- Use the B.R.A.T. diet-Bananas, Rice, applesauce, and toast for first 24-48 hours.

- Keep greasy, heavy, spicy foods out of the diet until diarrhea improving.

- Focus on fluids and encourage small, frequent meals to decrease discomfort from

  stomach cramps.

 

 

Keep in mind.  These are just recommendations by your school nurse and are based

on guidelines used by many physicians.  You know your child best.  If you feel

medical care is necessary sooner, please contact your physician immediately!!!!!!!
