- Remove all
milk products (except yogurt-can have 2-3 servings per
day) from diet until diarrhea nearly resolved. If
not possible, keep to < 3 servings per day
- Give mostly water,
pedialyte or ½ Gatorade and ½ water for all fluids
- No fruit juices,
unless very watered down.
- Use the B.R.A.T.
diet-Bananas, Rice, applesauce, and toast for first 24-48
hours.
- Keep greasy,
heavy, spicy foods out of the diet until diarrhea
improving.
- Focus on fluids
and encourage small, frequent meals to decrease
discomfort from
stomach
cramps.

on guidelines
used by many physicians. You know your child best.
