-Give
stomach a 2 hour rest after each vomiting episode (no
food or
drink).
- Start with water,
pedialyte or ½ Gatorade and ½ water
- Give 1 tbsp of fluid
every 10 mins for 1 hour
- If this stays down,
increase to 2tbsp every 10 mins for the
next
hour.

If still keeping fluids down, may begin increasing
amounts
Slowly and add
other clear fluids such as broth, tea, clear
Sodas, popsicles,
jello, etc.

Continue with clear fluids only for the first 8hrs after
Vomiting episode
began.

Then, may begin adding soft bland foods such as toast,
Oatmeal, bananas,
applesauce, potatoes, pasta etc
-
Continue on a soft bland diet for the first 24 hrs after
Vomiting episode
began.

On 2nd day, slowly reintroduce other foods
keeping milk
Products (except
yogurt, it has good bacteria that the
Intestines need)
and heavy, greasy proteins out of the
the diet until the
3rd day.
-
Each time your child vomits, begin this process all over
again 2hrs
rest, etc.
Keep in mind.
These are just recommendations by your school nurse and
are based
on guidelines
used by many physicians. You know your child best.
