McClure
FES Teacher of the Year
My name is
Mandy McClure. I have been teaching for 11 years. I have taught in
public schools for 8 years, and I was involved in a home school supplemental
program for 3 years. This is my 6th year at Fairview Elementary. I
have taught 4th-5th grade general education and 6th-8th Science and Language
Arts. I graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University. Since I was in
the second grade, I knew that I would be a teacher. I feel like this has
always been the calling that God has placed on my life. I would take home
old papers from my second grade teacher and "play school" at home every night!
My second grade teacher even wrote on my report card that one day I would make a
great teacher! Teaching is my profession, but children are my life.
I have three children of my own. Cali, 16 is a sophomore at Fairview High
School; Colton, 10 is a 5th graders at Fairview Elementary, and Cami, 8 is a 2nd
grader at Fairview Elementary. I feel very privileged to work in the
community where I reside. Being a member of the community helps to become
more involved with the students and their families outside of the school
setting, and I think that has helped to make a difference in our students'
lives. I am also involved in many of the kid's ministry activities at our
church. Some of my hobbies outside of the classroom are reading, working
on puzzles, spending time with family and friends, playing cards and games,
golfing, and of course relaxing in the sun at the beach or pool! I am very
excited about representing Fairview Elementary as Teacher of the Year, and it is
truly an honor to receive this recognition from my peers!
