Alec Holler was our only athlete to ever
compete in an indoor meet prior to this
one.
John Hewitt (Junior) was outstanding in the 55, 200, and 4x4. John was one of the top athletes in the entire meet.
Trey Hardison (Sophomore), performing in his first-ever high school meet long jumped over 21'0 twice and also broke the 40'0 barrier in the TJ. This was Trey's first time jumping into sand this year. He also ran the High Hurdles for the first time in his life and showed great promise.
Juan Arboleda (Senior) placed top-10 in both the 800 and 1600.
Alec Holler (Senior) ran over the hurdles for the first time this season after only two practices. Alec ran the 6th best time in the prelims. His 4x4 anchor leg looked strong.
Johnathon Hayes (Junior) ran two sub-55 400s.
Johnathon Carter (Freshmen) long jumped 19'11.
Shannon Derricks (Senior) long jumped for the first time in his life (meet or practice), going 18'11.
Titus Hardemon (Junior) got a bad start in the 55 but still ran a respectable 6.88.
Todd Campbell (Sophomore) looked great in the 200, placing 1st in his heat and 10th overall. Todd, like Alec, finished his basketball season Tuesday night.
Derrian Waters (Senior) did not compete due to a hamstring strain.
Elliot Brown (Sophomore) won his heat in the mile (5:05).
Kenny Snyder (Junior) ran a personal best 5:26 in the mile.
Our inexperience showed in the 4x2 running a poor time despite entering four very good runners.
This meet was a huge step in the right direction for Franklin Track and Field. We took thirteen of our school's finest athletes, we competed with intensity, and we took the first step towards bonding as a team.
We look forward to the possible addition of four basketball players this week, Jamarcus Lee, Antonio Murry, Dontae Brown, and Nick Trauma.
Thrower Thomas Sensing practiced for the first time Thursday and threw personal bests of 130 and 43.
We look forward to our "scrimmage" at Montgomery Bell Academy Wednesday (if the weather holds up).
Our first regular scheduled meet is at Overton, Monday, March 14.
