16-team invitational, 15 of them from Alabama, most
from Huntsville area, one from Tuscaloosa.

Winner: Bob Jones H.S. (AL)
Second: Franklin H.S. (TN)
Third: Paul "Bear" Bryant H.S. (AL)

Fantasitc new facility ... 9-lane track and lighted
field event area.  8000-seat football stadium.  Bob
Jones is a new-looking school of 1700 students
(soph-senior).

Weather ... 75 and breezy to begin, dropped into the
50s as the meet ended at 10:15.   We entered two teams (A and B) to maximize our participation.

Not many positives ...
(+)  Sophomore Matt Wills had two PRs (4x8 and 3200)
(+)  Tim Leach PR'd in the discus (124'6)
(+)  We placed in all 16 events in which we were
entered and placed twice in 6 events.
(+)  We dominated the sprints winning the 100, 200,
400 , and 4x1.  Alabama doesn't run the 4x2.

(+)  We beat 14 teams from Alabama.
(+)  Trey Hardison returned to the team after missing
the Riverdale meet.  The talented sophomore jumped 20'8, even
though he missed the board by 14 inches.  He later won
the 100, despite being our team's third-ranked sprinter.

(+)  Derrian Waters placed 5th in the Javelin (124'1)
despite never throwing it previously.  Derrian also
placed in the shot and ran for the first time since his hamstring injury.
(+)  Thomas Sensing, despite being a thrower,
volunteered to run the 300 INT and placed 8th (46.6)
in his debut.

On the negative side ...
(-)  We had only three PRs after setting 28 of them
last Tuesday night at Riverdale.

(-)  We failed to win a meet that we could have won.
(-)  We lacked focus and did not compete with the
enthusiasm and excitement necessary to accomplish special things.

(-)  John Hewitt only competed in three events and had
soreness issues.
(-)  Titus Hardimon limped through his anchor leg of
the 4x1, holding his hamstring.
(-)  Alec Holler had his second-straight poor outing
after four consecutive strong meets.
(-)  Thomas Sensing threw poorly when he had an
opportunity to be a double-winner.
(-)  Five football players decided to practice
football instead of attending our meet.  Spring
practice began Wednesday.
(-)  Five basketball players decided to attend an AAU
tournament in Knoxville instead of attending our meet.

Typically, track teams do not perform great when they
travel, but remember this ... we must travel to the
TSSAA State Meet in Memphis six weeks from now.

We have prelims of the 100, 200, 400, and 100HH as
well as all field events at Overton (Distric Meet) on
Monday.  Finals will be held Tuesday.  We will fight
to protect our undefeated record in Tennessee.

On Thursday, the top 8 individuals in the middle
Tennessee area in 14 events will be invited to the
Vanderbilt Great Eight.  Rankings will be available on
the Vanderbilt Track website Sunday night.  Coaches
will make scratches Monday and the final eight will be
set by Monday night.  Sensing, Hewitt, Holler,
Arboleda, Murry, Campell, Hardison, Hardemon, and
Haynes will all have a good chance to be invited.  There
will be no relays. GREAT EIGHT (link to meet information).

On Friday, we will host a JV Meet ... something new
for our area.

Rankings are available on our website,
