Last year we did not travel well. This year, we are much improved.
28 boys made the overnight trip without a single incident of misbehavior.
We spent 8 hours on a school bus, 12 hours at a motel, and endured a 90-degree track meet in a different time zone.
Our performances were excellent.

We placed 3rd overall in the meet behind William Blount and Knoxville West.
We did not enter four events.
Knoxville West is a state contender ... but so are we.
Knoxville West beat us in the 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4. We will race them again in late May.

Highlights:

Our 4x1 went 42.6 ... our best. Handoffs are so much better this year. If John Hewitt regains his speed, we will be in the hunt for a gold medal. In last year's last three 4x1s, John ran 10.97, 10.99, and 11.21 lead-off legs ... this year ... 11.69, 11.60, and 11.62 lead-off in his last three races. I think we can run 41.9.
Our 4x4 team ran 3:27.6 despite a sub-par race by sophomore Trey Miller. Redbone continues to improve. Johnathon Haynes, who never ran a split under 52 last year, ran 50.7. I think we can go under 3:20.
Freshman Tyler Hawn seems to PR every time he runs the 1600. Today he broke the 4:50 barrier. He also had his first big work-load (800, 1600, 800).
Thomas Sensing won the discus with a PR (145'2). He placed second in the Shot with an excellent 51'7. The winner, Hamilton Borden from William Blount, had a monster throw of 56'9.
Todd Cambell ran a FAT (fully automated time) PR of 11.05 in the 100 (11.18 last year at Region). His 9.51 and 20.83 splits are legit.
Trey Hardison ran a FAT 11.20 (11.41 at Region last year).
We had two awful stand-still exchanges in our 4x2 (1:31.3). The good news ... we are capable of running under 1:28.
