Congrats to Hunters Lane and Lavergne.
Both schools brought their A-game to the most important meet of
the season.
Congrats to Franklin's State Qualifiers!
Our 4x1 times were handicapped by awful exchanges in the prelims
and finals
between Johnathon Haynes and Trey Hardison.
We are capable of running low 42s at the state meet.
John Hewitt continues to win the 200 and 400 everywhere he goes.
Todd Campbell might be the top sophomore sprinter in the state of
Tennessee.
Don't be surprised to see Thomas Sensing throw over 140 at
the state meet.
Congrats to senior Juan Arboleda who finished 7th with his second-best
800 time of the year.
Even though we had 16 PRs over the three-day contest, we also had
major disappointments.
Antonio Murry ran three seconds slower than he ran last week at
MBA in the 800.
He was the best 800 runner at the meet but finished 4th.
Our 4x4 team was ready to improve upon their 3:25 time ran on
Wednesday.
Johnathon Haynes was going to run the race without an earlier 400
for the first time of the season.
Without excuses, none of our four runners improved upon their
prelim splits,
despite the obvious importance of the race.
We ran three seconds slower (3:28) and failed to qualify by one
second.
This team could have run close to 3:20 and had a shot at being
the best in the state. Ouch!
Alec Holler ran his best opening 150 (19.1) in the 300 INT but
still found himself trailing two incredible hurdlers who both ran
38s.
If things would have gone the way they could have,
we could have won the Region and been contenders
at the TSSAA State Meet in Memphis next Friday.
When you dream big, you have big disappointments.
As it stands now, we will compete strongly in five events and
have an excellent chance of placing Top-10 as a team ... with all
underclassmen.
Though we are stinging from our third-place finish, we still can
claim that we are 118-2
against teams from Tennessee.
