Franklin High School Driver’s Education

2008-2009 School Year Schedule

Instructors – Bill Boner, Toby Ruth, and Marshall Winkler

Course Fee for 2008-09 - $300.00

Franklin High School offers Driver’s Education courses to any incoming 9th grader.  The course consists of two parts:  30 classroom hours of instruction and 6 individual hours of field driving experience.  Students will receive ½ academic course credit for successful completion of the Driver’s Education course.  Students are not required to be students at Franklin High School in order to enroll, but must be available for all hours required by the instructor for completion of the course.

Any student who is involved in extra-curricular activities should plan to take the course at a time when their extra-curricular activity does not conflict with the 30 hours of classroom instruction.  Attendance for all 30 hours is mandatory and parents should schedule appointments to avoid conflicts with the course dates provided.   Students are not required to have their permit in order to participate in the driver’s education course; however, it is strongly recommended that the student obtain their permit before their 6 hours of field driving experience.  Class sizes may vary depending on how much time the instructor has to complete the course.

Enrollment in a class is done on an instructor to instructor basis and each individual instructor will only begin taking students for the next class on the dates provided and continue until all available spots are filled or the class begins.  At that time, the teacher will notify the front office and the webmaster that the class is full and no more students will be taken until sign-ups begin for the next class.
