PRESS RELEASE

WHO:  The Franklin High School Theatre Department  

WHAT: Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology.  Adapted from the original work by Charles Aidman in 1963 and presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

WHEN: Thursday, November 5 and Saturday November 7 at 7pm and Sunday November 8th at 2pm.  Franklin High School Auditorium.  (entrance at the back of the school with plenty of parking available)

Tickets are $5.00 at the door or can be purchased in the front office starting November 3

THE STORY: In the Town of Spoon River, the dead have been given one final opportunity to speak to the living. Take a stroll through the graveyard and discover their secrets, heartaches, and regrets; sympathize with their guilt, anger, and sorrow; mourn with those the dead left behind; wander through the history these individuals made through their actions.

Student Director Abby Racht  Directed by Mrs. Shirley Sweitzer.  “ The words spoken are as relevant today as when they were they were written  almost one hundred years ago .The actors play multiple characters during the play; each character with a message for the living.”  One character sums it up best by quoting Alexander Pope: “Act well your part, there all the honor lies.”
