Congratulations to the following students who were elected to Fairview Middle’s Student Council: Sarah Stanley, Hannah Dillingham, Melanie Hagerman, Lexi Sullivan, Noel Nalls, Hayden Campbell, Kayla Cox, Celina Ferrell, and Shayla Jones.

Seth Kyker and Joe Reed are shown above sprinting to the finish line in the Fairview Cross Country Invitational on Thursday.  Other schools included were Page Middle, Brentwood Middle, Poplar Grove Middle and Grassland Middle.

Did you know that FVMS’s related arts students are color coded?  Using Fairview’s school colors, on Monday and Tuesday the Black Group goes to health class for the entire term, On Wednesday and Thursday, the Gray Group goes to the computer lab for the term, and the Red Group is in PE all five days.

Fairview Middle School’s physical education classes have the students working on Powerbase two days a week during which elasticity and band strength tare strengthened. Students are also doing circuit stations and running the mile once a week to help with conditioning.  After exercising, students get to play speedball and flag football.

In Michelle Vinci’s art classes, the sixth graders are focusing  on China for the next weeks.  They will be studying the art of China in connection with the sixth grade world history curriculum and the recent Olympics.  Her seventh graders are working on color theory and then will move on to painting.

        Falcons win big over the Hornets!
In the first meeting of Fairview and Heritage since former Fairview Coach Darnell Spann transferred schools and now coaches the Heritage Middle School football team, the Fairview Falcons, under Coach Chris Hughes, clobbered the Hornets with a variety of well executed offensive plays and a strong defense.  Final score: 34 - 6.  Go Falcons!

The falcon volleyball team performed extremely well Thursday night against William James. Coach Leighanna Bowers reported that the lady falcons played an especially hard fought game against a very strong team. Shown here serving, is Allison Hulan.  Final score: William James won 25 - 14 and 25 - 19. 

The Cross Country Team ran at Blackman Invitational Meet Tuesday; there were over 350 runners and 18 teams.  The girls placed 7th and the boys 15th.  Holly Reed (shown above) was a medal winner and came in 19th overall.  The top  runners for Fairivew were: Girls: Holly Reed; Tiffany Franks, Taylor Langston, Tori Smith, Ashley Mangrum, and Allie King.  Boys:  Nicholas Murray, Jacob Gonzales, Jody Baltz, Zachary Simmons, Will King, Hunter Merryman.  Congratulations to all. The team will next run Thursday at 4:00 at Bowie Park.  Come out and cheer them on.
