Adventure

Plot:

The main character is a man named Edmond Dantes whose life is going perfect until a few men jealous of him accuse him of being a bonapartist just before his wedding and is sent to prison. In prison, he meets a man who shows him a map of the island of Monte Cristo and tells him of its enormous treasures. This allows him to create a new identity for himself: the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo.

good:

Dumas is one of my favorite authors and The Count of Monte Cristo is one of his true masterpieces. It goes into unbelievable depth creating a new world you can see, hear, and feel. The suspense and emotion in The Count of Monte Cristo is unmatched by any other I have read.

weaknesses:

The abridged version I read leaves out many details, and is 800 pages shorter than the unabridged version which is 1400 pages, but no facts important to the main plot were left out and was a very good book.
