Adventure

Plot:

This story is about pre-teen Alvin who lives in Washington D.C. He is faced with an overprotective mother and an ill grandmother. It gets to the point where Alvin can no longer take it so he runs away. He goes North, north of all he has ever known. He is no longer in the warmth and love of his family and into the dark lonely world of the Arctic.

good:

The author was very descriptive and described the scenery very well. The characters were very unique and strong willed in their decisions. I like the way the author described the North even though it is not that far away.

weaknesses:

I think one of the major weaknesses was that the author changed Alvin's opinion on things way too much, which really confused me. Also at certain points in the story it dragged out the exciting parts too much. I did not like the plot because it did not make sense to me that Alvin could love his family and then leave them for such a long time.
