6th Grade Supply List

2009-2010

  • 3-ringed binder (can be zippered or Velcro)
  • 2“, 3-ringed notebook with pockets & with a pencil pouch already set up & clipped in (to be used for Language Arts)
  • 1”, 3-ringed notebook with pockets (any color, for Social Studies)
  • 1”, 3-ringed WHITE notebook (for Science labs)
  • 3 packs, tabbed dividers (to be used in SS, LA & Sci)
  • 2 packs, wide-ruled loose leaf notebook paper (please replenish as needed)
  • MANY! No. 2 pencils (please replenish as needed)
  • 4 red pens
  • Highlighter (any color)
  • Colored Pencils (pack of 8-12)
  • 10 plain pocket folders with prongs (please do not write names on folders) – (to be used for Science & Math) *
  • 1 marbled composition notebook
  • 1 pencil pouch that clips in notebook (Canvas, not plastic, with metal rings.  This is in addition to the one mentioned above.)
  • 1 set of Post-It notes
  • 2 boxes of Kleenex*
  • 6 or more black Expo dry-erase markers*
  • 4 jumbo glue sticks*
  • 3” x 5” white index cards*
  • Ziploc Baggies*
    • If your last name begins with A-H, bring GALLON size;
    • If your last name begins with I-Q, bring SANDWICH size
    • If your last name begins with R-Z, bring SNACK size
  • If your last name begins with A-H, bring 2 rolls of Paper Towels*
  • If your last name begins with I-Q, bring 1 bottle of Hand Sanitizer*
  • If your last name begins with R-Z, bring 1 container of Clorox Wipes*

*These items will be taken up by homeroom teachers and distributed as needed.

àWhen purchasing a backpack for your child, please do not purchase a back pack with wheels.  They do not fit in the lockers.

àAlso, any types of shoes with wheels (Heelys, etc.) are not allowed

Physical Education:

Each student will have at least 3 periods of PE per week.

*        PE Grades will be compiled by skills, effort, knowledge, and improvement. 

*        Citizenship grade will be given using the school guidelines of positive behavior.

*        A lock will be provided for free but if not returned student will be charged $5 and reissued another lock.

*        Clothing Requirements: 

o    SHIRT:  FMS Physical Education shirt $10 or a White loose T-shirt

o    SHORTS:  FMS Physical Education shorts $10 or black loose athletic shorts that meet school guidelines in length.

o    Tennis Shoes:  Non-marking shoes that tie tight or will not fly off while running.  No flip flops, boots, street shoes, or tennis shoes that are just laced but not tight.  Name brand shoes are all mark proof

Academic Classes

·         Five  plastic three-ring binders (one for each academic subject) (Two should be 1 ½ inch ones for science and math)

·         Five folders of different colors (red, blue, yellow, and green) with prongs and pockets for each subject

·         One set of dividers to be used for the math binder

·         Two composition notebooks for reading and language arts

·         Spiral notebook for social studies

·         Loose lined white paper to fill the binders

·         Pack of graph paper for math

·         Four packs of note cards (two will be used for reading)

·         A pack of #2 pencils with erasers

·         Blue or black pens (no gel, neon, or pastels!)

·         Red pen for revising and checking

·         Highlighters

·         Small pack of colored pencils

·         Dictionary for use at home

·         Students can rent a T130XIIS calculator at school, or purchase one for about $12.00

Gym

·         Tennis shoes

·         Black shorts no more than two inches above the knee

·         Red or white T-shirt

Other items that would be of tremendous value are the following to be given to your homeroom teacher:

·         Tissue

·         Paper towels

·         Germicidal wipes

·         Hand sanitizer

·         Dry erase markers
