·          FHS is now offering the Rusty Mangrum Memorial Scholarship to seniors interested in pursuing careers in Agriculture and The Jennifer Daugherty Memorial Scholarship for those interested in teaching.  Seniors, the deadline for both applications is May 16 so pick up your copy in the scholarship box in guidance. ·          Students who want to compete in the 2009 Great Moonbuggy Race in Huntsville, Alabama need to come by Mrs. Beard’s room to sign up their team of 7 students.  This year, Fairview High Teams will design and compete for grant money to guild their moonbuggy.  Assemble your teams early!  Sign up today! ·          Students who want to serve on the 2008-2009 executive board of Café Scientifique need to come by Mrs. Beard’s room at lunch for applications. (Beard 5-23)

·          For the remainder of the year until exams, an additional line will be open in D-Hallway for lunch.  You will be able to purchase Pizza and Fries.  Enjoy the Pie-Fry D line. (Donen 5/19)

·          You will have an opportunity to get your FREE physical again this year at the Franklin Bone and Joint Clinic on Tuesday, May 13th. Fairview is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. for 10th through 12th Grade (High School) and 8th Grade ONLY (Middle School). Forms can be accessed online @ www.starptusa.com under sports medicine.  Families will need to download the physical form as well as the HIPPA release form before they arrive. Physicals will be open for incoming 8th grade students this year. Please remember incoming 9th graders must have a well child visit with their PCP.  Physicals are required before you can begin practice in summer and fall and must be dated after May 1st, 2008. ·          Class of 2009:  Rising Seniors:  If you have an idea for a class shirt design for next year, please let Callie Barnhill know by May 14.  She wants to have shirts ready as soon as you return in the fall. (Barnhill 5-14)

 

·          Do you play in a band, trio etc.? If so, please see Ms. Cates or Ms. Bicknell to sign up for a time slot to play for your friends on May Day in the courtyard.  For early time slots, see Ms. Cates.  For later slots, see Ms. Bicknell.  If any member of the band does not presently attend FrvHS they must leave a copy of their driver’s license on file with Ms. Bicknell or Ms. Cates.  (Cates 5-14)

 

·          Enjoy the day on May 16th from 7:30 to 2:30.  Today is the last day to turn in your tickets to participate in May Day.  If you had no disciplines this year turn in 10 tickets.  If you have had any disciplines turn in 50 tickets.  Come and enjoy flag football, pasagi, basketball, DDR, karaoke, live bands, video games, hacky sack, softball, movies and food.  Also, we will be drawing a PBS ticket for a car at the end of the day. ·          Do you want a WII?! Beginning April 1st, - every time you purchase a full meal from any of the cafeteria’s 3 lines; you will get a ticket for a chance to win a WII in the May 16th drawing. This contest will run April 1st through May 16th. (Cornwell-5/16)

 

·          Seniors please bring in a baby movie of yourself for the senior video.  Please mark the spot of the video that you wish to be included.  This is mandatory.  Please see Lexie Beguiristain for details and turn in videos to Room A-1. (5/22)

 

·          Seniors, if you are interested in winning a 2008 Chevy, you should check the list posted outside the front office to see if you are on track with your attendance. A new list will be posted every Monday (Stone-until car is given away)

 

·          Students must bring a note the day they return to school after they are absent.  Absences not excused will result in lunch detentions the day the student returns to school. (Mr. Donen)

- Excessive tardies result in lunch detention          - Unexcused absences result in 2 lunch detentions
