1st Trimester Essential Outcomes (Foundations II)

  1. Simplify & evaluate expressions & formulas using order of operations (1-2)
  2. Classify & compare real numbers; add, subtract, multiply, & divide real numbers (1-3, 1-4, 1-5, & 1-6)
  3. Simplify algebraic expressions using the distributive property (1-7)
  4. Graph points on the coordinate plane & analyze data using scatter plots (1-9)
  5. Use formulas to solve real-world problems (2-6)
  6. Analyze data using mean, median, mode, and stem-and-leaf plots (2-7)
  7. Learn to find square roots; apply square roots to solve problems using the Pythagorean Theorem and the distance and midpoint formulas (10-3, 11-2, & 11-3)
  8. Solve linear equations (one-step, two-step, multi-step) Chapter 2
  9. Define variables and write equations to solve real-world problems (2-5)
  10. Identify solutions of, graph, and write simple inequalities (3-1)
  11. Solve linear inequalities
  12. Solve multi-step and compound linear equalities (3-4 & 3-5)

  2. Identify relations and functions; model functions using rules, tables, and graphs; and write equations of functions (5-2, 5-3, & 5-4)
  3. Analyze and extend patterns and numeric sequences (5-6 & 8-6)
  4. Find rates of change from tables and graphs; find the slope of lines on graphs (6-1)
  5. Write equations in slope-intercept form; use slope and y-intercept to graph equations (6-2)
  6. Write linear equations in standard form; graph equations using intercepts (6-3)
  7. Graph and write linear equations using point-slope form; write linear equations using data (6-4)
  8. Determine whether lines are parallel or perpendicular; write equations of parallel lines; write equations for perpendicular lines (6-5)
  9. Translate the graphs of absolute value functions; graph absolute value equations (6-7)

3rd Trimester Essential Outcomes (Algebra IB)

  1. Solve systems of equations and inequalities by graphing (7-1, 7-5 & 7-6)
  2. Solve systems of equations using substitution or elimination (7-2 & 7-3)
  3. Simplify exponential expressions and perform calculations involving scientific notation using properties of exponents (8-1, 8-2, 8-3, 8-4, & 8-5)
  4. Add and subtract polynomials (9-1)
  5. Multiply polynomials by monomials and factor monomials from polynomials (9-2)
  6. Multiply binomials using FOIL, multiply polynomials, and multiply “special case” binomials (9-3 & 9-4)
  7. Factor trinomials and polynomials (9-5, 9-6, 9-7, & 9-8)
   31. Solve quadratic equations by graphing, factoring, completing the square, and using the
