1st Trimester Essential Outcomes

1:  Students will list the Elements of Art
2. Students will study line and be able to define the difference between gesture line and blind and modified contour line.
3. Students will illustrate line in pencil and ink using appropriate relative techniques.
4. Students will create a values chart showing a progression of intensities from light to dark.
5. Students will recognize and apply stipple and implied line using each in a manner appropriate to the medium.
6. Students will create a pencil cartoon based on a gridding method.
7. Students will create at least one ink plate using ink techniques showing good contrast.
8. Students will take notes on the Elements of art to lead to an understanding, analysis, application and ongoing judgment in art class.
9. Students will list the Principles of design.
10. Students will define the Principles of design by test/quiz.
11. Students will create a plate relative to their experience using ink applying the principles of contrast, emphasis, variety, rhythm and unity.
12. Students will identify the 6 categories of Line and create a “6 Box Line” using the principles of variety; Box 6 will use the principles of contrast and emphasis.
13. Students will study color theory making charts representative of Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary/Intermediary colors placing the color in the correct position.
14. Students will create charts using Complementary colors and will define complementary pairs.
15. Students will create a chart illustrating analogous combinations including but not limited to warm and cool color combinations.
16. Students will list neutrals.
17. Students will create Tints, Tones and Shades using Pure color as a base.
18. Students will define objects by category: Aesthetic or Utility
19. Students will discern objects as Shapes and Forms.
20. Students will continue to study necessary vocabulary in order to enhance their knowledge and appreciation of art.
21. Students will create an analogous plate using a layering technique. (trees:subject matter).
22. Students will create a landscape using the medium of tempera.
23. Students will apply a glaze properly to enhance and protect their plate.
24. Students will view various films to enhance their 5 knowledge of art and artists’ styles.
25. Students will show an understanding of the 4 types of space by definition and illustration, (i.e. picture, positive, negative and deep space)
26. Students will create rubbings to assist their understanding of visual texture.
27. Students will use Line to create a piece of art reflective of the subject matter and style of Georgia O’Keeffe using color.
28. Students will create  a plate reflective of the subject matter and style of Georgia O’Keeffe.
29. Students will create examples of graphics, one illustration and one collage, appropriate to a holiday.
30. Students will create a page for a teenager’s journal after studying the periods of  Dada and Surrealism.
31. Given a papers containing a variety of objects, students will create a totally different object, using all pieces, adding none. They will then entitle the object. (Synthesis)
