Art II A

In addition to previously covered media, students will use paper sculpture, print and book making to:

Media, Techniques, and Processes

  • Analyze and utilize different types or media, techniques, and processes used to create various art forms.

  • Demonstrate the relationship between various media, techniques, and processes and their effects when used to communicate specific ideas in works of art.

  • Compare and contrast the application of media, techniques, and processes used to solve visual art problems.

  • Use media and tools in a safe and responsible manner.

Structures and Functions

  • Create works that use art elements and design principles to solve specific visual art problems.

  • Apply organizational components of art and design to create expressive features, functions, and purposes in works of art.

  • Create works of art that demonstrate utilitarian and/or intrinsic qualities.

  • Utilize relationships among the visual and organizational components to solve specific visual arts problems.

Evaluation

  • Recognize that subjects, symbols, and ideas are used to communicate meaning in works of art.

  • Compare sources of subject matter in their own work to the work of others.

  • Choose and apply subject matter and symbols to communicate ideas.

  • Research works created as a series.

Historical and Cultural Relationships

  • Compare and contrast the historical and contemporary works of art reflect and influence societies and cultures.

  • Compare and contrast the characteristics and purposes of a variety of works or art within varied cultures, times, and places.

  • Create a work of art that reflects an understanding of how history and/or cultural influences a work of art.

  • Apply specific art criteria when observing, describing, and evaluating works of art.

In addition to previously covered media, students will use mixed media sculpture and jewelry making to:
