1st / 2nd Trimester Essential Outcomes

1. Evaluate the role of EMS in the healthcare system.
2. Evaluate the role and responsibilities of the EMT basic.
3. Describe the legal aspects of the EMT profession.
4. Describe the importance of infection control.
5. Demonstrate proficiency using abbreviations and medical terminology.
6. Demonstrate proficiency in using directional terminology.
7. Analyze the use of PPE with the common chief complaints.
8. Examine the disposal process of potentially infectious waste.
9. Understand basic anatomy concepts
10. Analyze stress from the EMT perspective.
11. Interpret body structure including anatomical design and structure and function of the body system.

3rd Trimester Essential Outcomes

12. Demonstrate proficiency in oxygen therapy.
13. Demonstrate competency in CPR and airway management.
14. Demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment.
15. Complete a patient history in the emergency room demonstrating proper documentation and verbal communication concerning patient care according to local protocol.
16. Use health care terminology to relate client/patient information.
17. Asses the importance of effective communication in emergencies by using rules of communication and listening skills.
18.  Students will know the anatomy of the heart.
19. Students will comprehend the function of the circulatory system.
20. Perform CPR.
21. Perform proper lifting techniques.
22. Develop a firm understanding of triage.
23. Determine process of events to clinical scenarios.
