1st Trimester Essential Outcomes

1.       The learner will be able to state their name in the target language.

2.      The learner will be able to give their birth date in the target language.

3.      The learner will be able to give, understand, and & respond to basic greetings.

4.      The learner will be able to describe him/herself and others using the verb être (the French to be verb) and basic adjectives.

5.       The learner will know the days of the week in French.

6.      The learner will know the months of the year in French.

7.      The learner will know how to tell time in French.

8.      The learner will know the numbers in French from 0 to 31.

9.      The student will be able to state where s/he is from in French.

10.  The learner will be able to list people and things that s/he likes or does not like using the French verb aimer (to like or to love).

11.  The learner will be able to understand and/or manipulate two verbs strung together correctly within French sentence structure (i.e., verb + infinitive).

12.  The learner will have a thorough understanding of the usage and conjugations of the French verb avoir (including idiomatic expressions).

13.  The learner will be proficient in French numbers from zero to one hundred.

14.   The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb aller (to go).

15.   The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb prendrer (to take [things/food/drink]).

16.   The student will be able to read/write/communicate using proper French contractions of à and de.

17.   The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb faire (to make/do).

18.   The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb pouvoir (can/to be able to).

19.   The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb vouloir (to want).

20.   The learner will be able to manipulate the definite and partitive articles both positively and negatively in order to establish how much of something is wanted or needed.

2nd Trimester Essential Outcomes

21.  The learner will be familiar with and able to manipulate food/restaurant vocabulary, as well as vocabulary denoting quantities.

22.  The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb mettre (to put/ t o wear/ to put on).

23.  The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb voir (to see).

24.  The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verb coire (to believe).

25.  The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the most common verbs of the ir verb family.

26.  The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the most common verbs of the re verb family.

27.  The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the most common verbs of the MTV verb family: dormir (to sleep); sortir (to go out); partir (to leave); servir (to serve).

28.  The learner will be able to form and understand sentences using the verbs in the lire (to read), dire (to say / tell), écrire (to write) verb family.

29.  The learner will be able read and recognize the past action tense.
