Reading/Comprehension

  • Define and practice the Read Aloud/Think Aloud reading strategy.

  • Actively make, evaluate, and revise predictions while reading.

  • Develop questions about the text during reading and evaluate whether the questions were answer or not.

  • Summarize information at frequent intervals during reading.

  • Apply reading knowledge to self and the world using the QAR model.

  • Implement strategies to recognize confusion during reading.

  • Employ fix-up strategies fix reading confusion.

  • Apply reading strategies to the book Ask Alice.

  • Read independently and keep a meaningful journal of reading experiences.

  • Mark the text with symbols to make effective connections and engage the text.

Communication

  • Organize and present oral material before the class.

  • Show listening skills by repeating peer responses in group discussions.

  • Present original ideas and provide support in a group discussion.

  • Respond in a variety of forms to GO lessons and other character-oriented material.

  • Identify parliamentary procedures.

  • Participate in meetings conducted according to parliamentary procedures.
