Communication/Career Vocabulary

• Develop an understanding of what an infinitive is, and how to use it in a sentence to express what they like and don't like.

• Demonstrate the ability to greet others and to make introductions in the target language.

• Develop an understanding of basic punctuation, accents, and pronunciation.

• Determine the gender of nouns and use definite and indefinite articles as appropriate in singular and plural forms.

• Describe weather conditions and seasons with idiomatic expressions as needed.

• Perform basic operations using classroom commands in Spanish.

• Learn the conjugations of the irregular verbs ser, estar, and tener and their correct usage with nouns and adjectives.

• Learn subject pronouns and the -ar, verb conjugations in Spanish.

• Learn plural of nouns and articles and how to use them alone and with adjectives.

• Identify interrogative words and use them in questions.

Culture

• Identify areas, countries, and capitals in the Spanish speaking world.

• Learn commonly used proverbs in Spanish.

• Learn about Spanish culture.

Connections

• Perform basic operations using simple numbers to tell time and give dates.

• Identify basic body parts and be able to talk about what hurts.

• Identify classes and schedules in Spanish.

• Identify and use cognates for understanding.

• Learn Spanish suffixes.

Spanish I Career B

Communication/Career Vocabulary

• Continue work with subject pronouns and learn verb conjugations including the -er and -ir verb conjugations.

• Develop conversations with food and drink vocabulary and be able to order food in Spanish.

• Learn irregular verbs such as ser, estar, tener, ir, ect.

• Learn stem-changing verb patterns such as in jugar.

• Expand vocabulary on food, family, invitations, and places to go. Use basic conversation and exercises.

• Use frequency words and days of the week to talk about their activities.

• Describe people.

• Make comparisons.

Culture

• Learn about Spanish culture such as food, names, and the importance of family.

Connections

• Study examples of Spanish art in their text.

Language/Culture

• Continue in their use of cognates and suffixes as they learn to read and write in the target language.

• Celebrate the Spanish cultural heritage.
