1st Trimester Essential Outcomes

  1. The learner will be able to know and apply basic theatrical terms having to do with the modern-day theater such as:
    1. Upstage
    2. Downstage
    3. Proscenium
    4. Flies
    5. Wings
  2. The learner will be able to engage in basic acting exercises such as pantomime and improvisation.
  3. The learner will be able to know the basic characteristics of Ancient Greek Drama.
  4. The learner will be able to create their own Greek theatre mask which will be used in a performance.
  5. The learner will be able to choose his or her own monologue, analyze the speech, write a character description, and perform the monologue for the class.
  6. The learner will become aware of the importance of vocal projection and body positions while on stage.
  7. The learner will be able to apply basic theater techniques to alternate forms of art, such as poetry and music.
  8. The learner will begin to read and analyze Tennessee Williams’ play, The Glass Menagerie.
  9. The learner will become aware of basic etiquette rules of the theater.
  10. The learner will be able to discern a character centered approach from a situation approach.
  11. The learner will be able to engage in peer directing activities.
  12. The learner will present a story to the class using basic storytelling techniques.
  13. The learner will understand and will be able to demonstrate the basics of stage blocking.
  14. The learner will engage in hands-on construction activities centered around the school’s fall production.
  15. The learner will be able to present a scene from The Glass Menagerie to the class using all the character analysis and stage blocking information learned thus far.
  16. The learner will begin to learn how to properly score a script for proper dramatic emphasis.
