1st Trimester Essential Outcomes

  1. The learner will discover “Method Acting” through lecture and performance based activities.
  2. The learner will further enhance their acting skills through monologue and scene work.
  3. The learner will enhance their directing skills through peer directing groups.
  4. The learner will be introduced to and will be able to identify different types of theater by their script characters.
  5. The learner will discuss and analyze a full-length play in order to understand the time period’s and author’s influences on a particular work.
  6. The learner will improve upon their improvisational abilities by immersing themselves in the study of Commedia dell Arte.
  7. The learner will gain hands-on experience in set building/dressing.
  8. The learner will partake in a make-up workshop practicing basic and advanced techniques on each other.
  9. The learner will examine a movie for its theatrical attributes and explore a chosen aspect in a well-written paper.
  10. The learners will work together in small groups to analyze a contemporary/moder play of their choice.
  11. The learner will use previous historical research to effectively present a scene. 
  12. The learner will be able to perform scenes pulled from a full-length play studied in class in order to better understand the flow of a play.
  13. The learner will perform a monologue for the class that will be revisited throughout the year in order to chart progress.
  14. The learner will be able to receive constructive criticism from the teacher and from peers during scene and monologue work.
  15. The learner will be able to work on several different technical areas of school productions.
