Theatre II A

Character Acting

  • Use imagination to form and to express thought, feeling, and character.

  • Use characters to develop situations and environments through individual and ensemble work.

  • Utilize improvisational skills and techniques in creating a character.

  • Develop skills of analysis in acting.

  • Hone solo acting skills through intensive work on monologues and various scene pieces.

Scene Design

  • Understand processes, techniques, terminology, and materials of technical theatre and theatre management.

  • Gain hands-on construction experience working on the school's current major production.

  • Construct props/costumes to be used in performance.

Scene Comprehension

  • Expand the depth and scope of aesthetic judgment by experiencing informal and formal theatre, film, television, and electronic media production and theatre of diverse styles, periods, and genres.

Directing

  • Understand the functions and responsibilities of the director.

  • Develop leadership and collaborative skills through directing formal and informal productions.

  • Understand the principles of stage movement as an integral element of theatre production.

  • Analyze a dramatic text to determine appropriate production values.

Research

  • Understand, compare, and contrast various genres and periods of dramatic literature.

Script Writing

  • Participate in script writing by structuring the development and resolution of dramatic problems.

  • Utilize language to express meaning, character, and subtext.

Work Ethic

  • Participate in classroom activities.

  • Gain confidence through collaborative classroom projects.
