1st Trimester Essential Outcomes

1.Identify basic human needs
2. Describe characteristics of good mental health
3. Practice coping and resistance skills

6. Demonstrate effective listening skills
7. Understand the nature of stress
8. Formulate personal stress management techniques
9. Recognize the symptoms of a potential suicide
10. Identify the legal, social and economic consequences of  drugs.

2nd Trimester Essential Outcomes

11. Explain personal nutrient needs
12. Explain the role of dietary guidelines for maintaining healthy eating
13. Identify personal dietary practices
14. To be able to interpret information provided on food labels
15. To identify professional sources of information about food and nutrition
16. To demonstrate the ability to make informed consumer decisions regarding food
17. Identify how HIV/AIDS, STDS, and hepatitis are spread
18. Identify the warning signs of HIV/AIDS, STDS, and hepatitis

28. Students should know how to prevent, escape and survive a personal attack.
29. Define first aid.
30. Identify priorities in an emergency.
31. Differentiate between types of wounds and their first aid.
32. Describe shock and treatment.
33. Explain the treatment for poisoning.
34. Differentiate between poisonous and non poisonous snakes.
35. Describe proper first aid for common emergencies.
36. List weather related emergencies.
37. Know first aid for choking victims.
38. Demonstrate how to check for breathing and pulse.
39. Demonstrate rescue breathing.
