Fourth Grade is filled with exciting and meaningful studies!

Our textbook in Math is the silver Burdett Ginn series. This includes a variety of skills such as multiplication, division, graphing, fractions and geometry. Students are also introduced to math concepts in a number of other activities.

Science includes a hands-on approach with the aid of our STC kits.  Our main topics are Electricity, Food Chemistry, Land and Water and Animal Studies. We also incorporate the use of our Discovery Works Science book.  Hands-on learning implements creative thinking, problem solving, and inquiry.

Language Arts is a broad subject that is included in all of our studies. Reading occurs with each subject, through trade books, independent reading and our basal.  Spelling is not contained only in our spelling book, but also incorporated within the writing process and throughout each subject.  Writing and grammar are ongoing processes.

Social Studies--All of the regions of the United States are thoroughly covered along with an independent study of Tennessee with an emphasis on American History.  The Tennessee unit involves novel studies, independent projects, field trips, and a Hyper Studio project.

Check out the Tennessee Page - it contains links to many Tennessee Internet Pages!     Visit this page again as we will soon be adding new information about 4th grade and information from specific classrooms.
