Music

Every student at Grassland Elementary receives 45 minutes of music instructions every week. Classes cover the basic elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, tone color, reading notation, expression and form.  Students are provided with opportunities to apply the basic elements through singing, playing instruments, composing and movement.

The music program also provides students with an opportunity to integrate principles of other subjects into music and to see how the subjects are interrelated.

Each year, our Fourth grade classes participate in the “Words and Music” program at the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Our Fifth grade classes learn to play the Recorder and we are now in the process of developing an Art/Music connection program with third grade.
