Our Beliefs

  • All students can learn.
  • A safe and nurturing environment promotes student learning.
  • Learning is the chief priority for the school.
  • Students learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of instructional approaches and activities to support their learning.
  • Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs.
  • Positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff members enhance a student’s self esteem.
  • A broad range of assessment approaches is used to measure learning and personal success.

Decision-making is a collaborative effort led by the Building Leadership Team that follows the policies of the Williamson County School System.

Our Mission

Grassland Middle School exists to prepare students to be life-long learners and responsible members of society. We accomplish this by providing students an opportunity to engage in an edifying and supportive learning environment and by increasing the protective factors for students while decreasing the known risk factors. As a result students are able to achieve academic success and to demonstrate exemplary character both on and off the GMS campus. These elements will contribute to students’ ability to attain at least one year’s academic growth as well as to meet or exceed NCLB average yearly progress as outlined in the district assessment snapshot in the Master Plan for Williamson County Schools.

Our Vision

By intentionally partnering with our school community GMS will become a world class middle school environment whereby:

·        Every student and adult will treat others the way they want to be treated

·        Each student will find his/her voice and become a leader in their generation

·        Every student will have a place within our community to feel accepted

·        Every student will have an activity whereby they feel competent

·        Every student will be viewed as normal within the eyes of their peers

·        Every student will be academically challenged using state of the art technologies and resources

·        Every stakeholder actively contributes to the success of the school by insuring  a positive attitude, desiring to learn, and maximizing his/her gifts and talents on a daily basis

·        Every stakeholder will demonstrate the attributes of a strong, moral character through honesty, respect, integrity, compassion, loyalty, trust, and caring

·        Each student and adult will respond to change in a timely manner by maintaining flexibility, encouraging creativity and embracing teamwork.

·        Every stakeholder will recognize the significance of the whole as well as that of the individual

·        Our community will ensure an environment of caring adults; safe places; promoting health; effective education; and opportunities to serve others.

·        Adequate financial resources are consistently available to ensure continuous improvement and pursuit of excellence for our school’s academics, athletics, and arts programs.

·        Every stakeholder will be invested in the long term success of the school and committed to the development of the adolescent student.
