5^th Grade Summer Reading

Welcome to 5^th Grade! We’re excited to learn and grow with you next school year. The following is information about a book you are required to read this summer.

Book Title: Frindle

by: Andrew Clements

Summary: Nicholas, a 5^th grade student, decides to invent a new word for pen. This book details the events surrounding his word creation and what Nicholas learns along the way.

This is required summer reading for all students entering 5^th grade at Hillsboro School. This book may be read with parents or siblings. Please fill out the attached reading log as you read this summer. During the first week of school, two in-class assignments will be given based on the book: a project and a summary of the book. These assignments will count as your first grades in Reading and Writing, so be prepared!
