Hi, my name is Sylvia Coile-LeMay.
I teach first grade at Heritage Elementary.
I came to Heritage with Dr. LaChance from Crockett
Elementary and I taught in Metro-Nashville schools for
twenty years before moving to Williamson County. This is my
second year at Heritage, but my 33rd year of teaching. I
enjoy teaching young children to read and preparing them to
think and learn.
My favorite subjects to teach are reading, math and
science. Hands
on learning is fun!!
I grew up in Hohenwald, Tennessee.
It is a small town located south of Spring Hill. I
lived with my family on a large working farm.
Now, I
live with my husband ,Chris , in Nolensville, TN.
I received my B.S. degree in Elementary Education, K-9, from
Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, TN.
There I met my late husband , Jim Coile.
We were married 21 years.
I was widowed in 1997 and I married Chris LeMay, in
2000. This
explains my unusual name. I received my Masters Degree in
Elementary Curriculum and
Instruction
from the University of
Memphis. I have
10 additional hours above my masters.
I achieved Career Ladder III certification and
completed my work to become a National Professional Board
Certified teacher in May.
I will learn if I achieved this level in November.
I have two sons and one step-daughter.
All are adults and on their own.
My son Adam is married to Jessica and by the time
school starts they will have three children.
Alayna Grace is 3, Zane Davis is 2 and Paxton Adam is
due, August the 20th.
He is a youth minister and a manager for Walgreens.
They live in Bartlett Woods near Memphis, Tennessee.
My step-daughter, Racheal, is married to Adam Taylor
and they have one daughter, Alyssa Zayne, age 8.
They live in Lawrenceburg, TN.
My youngest child, Ben, is 21 and is a junior at
Freed-Hardeman University.
He is majoring in media arts/marketing and is the
Apple Computer representative on campus.
My husband Chris works for 1220 Designs in Nashville,
TN. He builds
and installs exhibits in museums.
My only “child” at home is a black and tan miniature
dachshund, Ginger!
When I am not at school I enjoy reading, collecting
children’s books, singing, playing cards and board games
with families and friends and watching Titan’s football with
my husband and boys.
