Academics
Heritage Middle School utilizes a team teaching model to provide its students
instruction in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
Additionally, through related arts offerings, students are exposed to
art, physical education, life skills, general music, world language, teen life,
and technology offerings in nine-week intervals to further enhance their
educational experience.
The Heritage Middle staff implements diversified instruction techniques
including cooperative learning groups, hands-on class activities, tiered
assignments, high-level questioning, problem-based learning, flexible grouping
and independent study to meet the learning profile and interests of every
learner. By using this model, all
students are challenged at the rate and degree of complexity that matches their
individual needs.
Special education students are served inclusively with the special education
staff working cooperatively with general educators to provide support,
modifications, and adaptations.
Students who are certified as intellectually gifted are served both inclusively
and in small group situations by a gifted consultant several times each week.
As our mission statement directs, our program is diversified and unique to
prepare each of our unique and diverse students to strive for excellence in each
and every endeavor whether it be physically, mentally, academically or socially.
