District 2nd Round: Indy's advances One

Day two of the district 11-AAA tennis action sees Independence send one onto the next round. Yesterday, the Eagles were finally able to play their 2nd round district matches. However, many players played their last matches of the season. Jake Turner and Brendan Foti lost to the 4th seeded team from Ravenwood.  Shyan Escobar lost to the 4th seed from Ravenwood.  Jordan Jaszcz and Brooke Young were upset by Franklin in a two hour marathon match.  Kaleigh McCoy and Liz Renzaglia lost to the tournament favorite Hopmayer sisters from Brentwood.

But, the match of the day was Hayley Mull of Independence. She prevailed with the victory in "The longest match that I have ever coach."  Mull defeated Anthony from Ravenwood 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) in a match that lasted over three hours.  "This was the first match on the court and by over an hour, the last one off" according to Coach Balzer.  Mull will plays again Tuesday against the 2nd seed from Brentwood, Qin.
