Eagles Athletics

The Independence wrestling team competed in the Region 6 Dual tournament this past weekend, which was the qualifier for State Dual this coming weekend. Out the four teams that qualified for Region Duals, Independence walked away with the region crown for the 2^nd year in a row! The Eagles won both of their matches against Overton 44-23 and Brentwood 49-20 to secure Independence's spot in this weekend’s state tournament up in Clarksville. The Eagles will be making their second trip to Clarksville in as many years. They look to improve on their 4^th place finish they accomplished last year. "It is sure to be an exciting weekend for our young program as we hope to compete for a state title" Coach Grindstaff.

The bracket is out, Independence will wrestle Friday @ 3:30 and again at 7:30 Friday night. If/when Independence wins both of those they will wrestle Saturday @ 1:00 p.m. All matches are at Clarksville High School. The Eagles' first match on Friday is against Collierville whom they already beat this year 45-25. Hopefully, they can match that and get out of the first round.

If we make the state finals then this is the schedule:

Friday @ 3:30, then 7:30, then Saturday @ 1:00, then the Championship @ 7:30

If we lose in the quarterfinals:

Friday @ 3:30, 7:30, then Saturday @ 11:00, then @ 1:00, then @ 3:00, then 5:30 for 3^rd and 4th

If we lose in the Semi-finals :

Friday @ 3:30, then 7:30, then Saturday @ 1:00 and 3:00, then third place match@ 5:30
