Independence High School defeated
Arlington High School in the first round of playoffs this past
weekend by a score of 23-16! The Eagles will continue to
the 2nd playoff round as they travel to Franklin High
School this Friday. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
Visitors (not students) may purchase tickets in the IHS front
office Thursday, November 12, during school hours and Friday,
November 13, until noon. Students will be able
to purchase tickets during lunch in the common area on Friday,
November 13. Tickets are $8.00 each. GO EAGLES!
Hockey Game Tonight/Pancake
Breakfast
The IHS/Page hockey team has a game
tonight against Ravenwood at 8:55 p.m. at A-Game SportsPlex in
Franklin. Come out and see the action!
The team is also having a Pancake
breakfast November 21 at Applebee’s in Spring Hill. Please
come out and support the team. It’s greatly appreciated!
Forensics News
This past weekend, the IHS Forensics
Team traveled to Henry County High School for their annual
Crider Invitational Tournament. Congratulations to the
team captains, Jon Castro and Patrick Norwood, who advanced to
final rounds and won the following awards:
Patrick Norwood – 1st
Place – Tournament Champion in Prose Interpretation – winning a
$100 scholarship for college!
Jon Castro and Patrick Norwood – 3rd
Place – Duo Interpretation

Wizard of Oz at IHS!
Take a trip down the yellow brick
road with the students at Independence High School. The
school's newly revamped drama department, now known as T-Time
Productions, will perform the The Wizard of Oz November
12-14 at 7:00 p.m. and November 14-15 at 2:00 p.m. Don’t
miss your chance to catch this classic featuring Dorothy, the
Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West. Tickets can be
purchased in advance, $5 for students/children and $7 for
adults. Contact
rebeccat@wcs.edu to place your order. Otherwise,
tickets will be $8 at the door.
FEED 500 Families For
Thanksgiving-Bring Nonperishables to School
On Monday, October 26, we began
collecting canned food items to help feed 500 Families for
Thanksgiving. Bring in nonperishable/canned items and turn them
into your first period classroom to help give someone a dinner
for Thanksgiving. We will be collecting these canned food items
through November 20. If you have any questions, please contact
Coach Harris or Mr. Hammond.
Pay Library Fines with Canned
Items
Now through November 16, the library
will be accepting canned items again this year to pay for
library fines. These canned items will be donated to the FEED
500 Families total here at IHS.
Counseling News
Please see the attached IHS
counseling center newsletter for information about scholarships,
testing, etc. The monthly newsletter is also available on
the counseling center webpage through the “scholarships” link
and in hard copy in the counseling center or through senior
English teachers.

regarding eligibility information for the Tennessee Education
Lottery Scholarship Program.
Calendars
Williamson Medical Center wall
calendars are available in the IHS front office and student
services for any student who wants one. These calendars
feature artwork from WCS students and include WCS school
calendar information.
Learn Sign Language on
Late-Start Mondays
Beginning Monday, November 2, and
every Late-Start Monday, students who are interested in learning
sign language can go to room B219 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Senior Ads for the Yearbook
The deadline for senior ads is the
end of this semester. Photos can be submitted using the
SharePoint program. Go to
www.hjeshare.com<http://www.hjeshare.com and enter in our
school code: 7010568. You will be taken to a window where you
will enter in your contact information and upload your pictures.
In the description, make sure to indicate that the picture is
for a senior ad and include the message you want with it. You
can mail in your check to Independence to the attention of Mary
Marley or just have your student drop off the check in D120 or
the front office. Paper copies of photos can also be
submitted by mailing them to Mary Marley, but it is strongly
advised that you use one of the electronic options.
