WELCOME BACK

The
2008-2009 school year is off to a great start in Williamson
County. Nearly 30,000 students returned to the
classroom for their first half-day Monday, August 11.
The first full day of class was August 12.
In this
issue of IN FOCUS, you'll find important news
regarding an update to the social
SECURITY BREACH.
Plus, parents will be happy to know that Williamson County
Schools continues to outperform the state when it comes to
ACT
TEST SCORES. This issue also includes important
information regarding OPEN HOUSE dates and times,
school HEALTH SCREENINGS and details concerning
SPORTS PHYSICALS.
We have
plenty of videos for you to check out in this issue.
Among them: a look back at the sights and sounds from the
FIRST DAY of school, teachers at Fairview Elementary
start a new tradition called the
SPIRIT TOUR and a
Scales student shows he is one of the
BEST BOWLERS in
the state. Plus, hear from some of the
NEW TEACHERS
who will be teaching students all around Williamson County.
And last but not least, IN FOCUS is proud to
debut a new feature called the
WCS SPORTS REPORT.
Each issue will feature highlights and scores from athletic
events across the county.

Possibilities CAREER FAIR,
and details regarding Williamson Medical Centers new
ACADEMIC CALENDARS.
One of the
best things about IN FOCUS is that we get a
chance to highlight all the wonderful accomplishments of
Williamson County students. In this issue, you'll read
how a Fairview High School graduate managed to win a very
PRESTIGIOUS AWARD. But he's not the only graduate
making news. We'll also tell you about a Brentwood
grad who's earning some national recognition for her
AMAZING ARTWORK.
The
Williamson County High School Marching Band Exhibition is
coming up soon. You can find out all the information
in our MUSIC/THEATRE section. Plus, we have a
few snapshots in our PHOTO GALLERY and feel free to
TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE with the SAT Question of the Day.
