Algebraic Expressions Math Review
Fairview Middle School, Ms. Cook’s 8th Grade Math Class
Tech Coach Kristine Gregoire-Cope

Algebra1

Students in Ms. Cook’s 8th grade Math classes are using QR codes to work on Algebraic Math Review problems. Ms. Cook demonstrated the use of QR codes by posting three codes around the room that provided additional math problems, as well as video tutorials for students to review in solving algebraic equations.

The following day students worked in pairs to create a “real world” algebraic problem and linked it to a QR code using the i-nigma app. When each pair created a problem and a solution, Ms. Cook checked the problem for accuracy, and the students linked it to a QR code to print and post around the classroom.

The following day the students accessed the problems using the QR codes to access the solution to each of the problems. These problems were used for additional practice and review.

The students demonstrated an understanding of skills, felt confident in solving algebraic equations, and also demonstrated knowledge of how to create and use QR codes.
