All About Kenrose

Williamson County Mission and Vision

Our Mission:
Educate students for lifelong learning.
Embrace students' cultural and learning differences.
Equip students to become responsible citizens.

Beliefs
We believe:

  1. Students are actively engaged through a variety of instructional approaches to solve problems and apply their learning in meaningful context.
  2. Student achievement is demonstrated through on-going assessment that accommodates differences in learning styles.
  3. Our school is committed to providing a safe, caring and orderly environment.
  4. Our diverse school-community embraces cultural differences, promotes self-esteem, and fosters mutual respect.
  5. Effective disciplinary action involves guiding students to make decisions and accept the consequences, positive or negative.
  6. Preserving and/or enhancing students’ self-respect and dignity is crucial to successful learning.
  7. Parents, teachers and community partner together to promote student learning.

 Vision
Engage students for excellence by addressing their needs and showing yearly academic growth.  Students will show improvement by being active participants in learning that is focused on the TN state curriculum standards.

 Goals
The 2005-2006 School Improvement Plan guides our school’s goals.  Kenrose has chosen the following as our SIP goals for this school year:
 1. Each child will make at least one year growth in reading culminating with each cohort measured by positive growth TVASS data.
 2. Each child will make at least one year’s growth in math culminating with each cohort measured by positive growth TVAAS data.
 3. Each child will make at least one year’s growth in social studies culminating with each cohort measured by positive growth TVAAS data.

We will evaluate our goal(s) yearly to determine performance objectives and accomplishments.  The two main sources of information used to judge our success will be student IAI and TCAP scores.

History
Kenrose Elementary School is a public elementary school tucked away between farmland and surrounding neighborhoods in Brentwood, Tennessee.  The land on which Kenrose was built was sold by the Kennon family for the sole purpose of building an elementary school.  Thus the name Kenrose was chosen to honor Emmett Kennon's wife, Rose, and the Kennon family.  Kenrose opened in the fall of 1999 and is one of 21 elementary schools in Williamson County.

Our school serves pre-school through 5th grade students.  We offer programs such as 4-H and Destination Imagination.  Our children also participate in Art, Music, P.E., Library, and Guidance.

Technology Plans
Our Kenrose family has been very active in assisting us in our technology needs.  We have raised a great deal of money and purchased several computers for every classroom.  We have a fully functional computer lab that is used daily.  We are in the process of helping our teachers develop new ways to utilize these computers in their classrooms.
