Early Childhood Classroom Services
Kenrose Elementary houses two of Williamson County’s 11 Early Childhood
classrooms for eligible preschoolers aged 3-5. This program is designed
for children with special needs, but it also includes typical preschool
children from the community used as peer models. The peer models
provide great opportunities for social interactions and model
appropriate language, while still learning skills necessary for them as
they prepare to enter Kindergarten. Children who qualify for an IEP
must have significant deficits in two or more developmental areas, such
as cognition, speech/language, and fine or gross motor skills. The
preschool students attend the program four days a week, in either a
morning (8:30 – 11:30) or afternoon (12:30 – 3:30) session. The
classroom staff consists of one lead teacher with special education
teaching background and two paraprofessionals. In addition, a speech
language pathologist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist
work in the classrooms. Other needed therapies are provided as the IEP
determines necessary.
