Lipscomb was the first school in this area and was founded in the late 1860s by William Lipscomb as a boarding school. Williamson County School System took over in the early 1920s. There were 34 students and one teacher. The building burned and was replaced in 1959. In 1992 a new building was constructed on the same site. There are two trees over two hundred years old on the property.

School Clubs and Activities :

Dance Group - The Dance Group is open to all 5th grade boys and girls. The requirement for being a member is a commitment to the group and a love of movement. The group meets twice a week during recess time. The group learns different styles of dance, choreography and performance. The group performs twice a year for our school and in the spring travels to different schools to spread the enjoyment of dance.  Ginger Sweeney is the sponsor of this club.

Destination Imagination- DI is open to all 4th-5th grade boys and girls. Students meet in small teams to meet the creative challenge of the year. Students are asked to use their creativity and to "think outside of the box" to solve problems. Bob Armour is the sponsor of this club.

Chorus - Choral activities are offered to fourth and fifth graders during recess on a voluntary basis. The chorus meets twice a week, and select members meet on a third day per week to practice instrumental accompaniments for the choral works we study.  Erin Meadows is the sponsor.

Camera Club- Students learn the Art of taking pictures and contribute to the yearbook. This club is open to students who are responsible and interested in photography or are creative. Marcy Porter is the club sponsor.

Yearbook - The yearbook staff is open to 5th graders.  The club meets once a week to sort, lay-out, and label pictures.  Students also create themes and write the copy that goes along with the pictures.  Marcy Porter is the club sponsor.

Field Day- Field Day is a developmentally appropriate day for all students. There is no competition - students are doing their personal best. Students go to over 30 different stations with a partner using the skills they have learned in physical education class. These activities are done in the first part of the morning then a variety show is put on in the afternoon to showcase the talent here at Lipscomb Elementary.

Peer Tutoring- Fifth graders become teachers on Fridays while they help other students in a variety of subjects. Tutors must be responsible, knowledgeable, and able to work well with others. Marcy Porter is the sponsor of this activity.
