Hello! My name is Christie Hoy and I am part of the
first grade team at Longview Elementary School! I was
born and raised in Upstate New York and attended
Syracuse University where I received my B.S. in
Inclusive Elementary and Special Education. After
teaching fourth and fifth grade Special Education in New
York State for one year, I relocated to Nashville,
Tennessee to attend Vanderbilt University for graduate
school. I received my M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special
Education and Severe Disabilities in 2003 and have been
employed by Williamson County Schools since that time,
teaching in Early Childhood Special Education and First
Grade.
My
husband, Eric, and I live in Spring Hill with our
daughter, Julia, who was born in August 2006 and our
son, Carter, who was born in April 2009. Outside
of school, we enjoy outdoor activities, especially
biking, hiking, and boating.
I
believe that learning is a process of active discovery
and that the classroom environment should be one where
diversity, collaboration, and a sense of community are
highly valued. I am so excited to watch the children in
my class grow and learn each day. I look forward to
meeting the upcoming first graders and their families.
See you in August!
