Longview Elementary School
Arrival and Dismissal
Procedures
2008-2009
Please read carefully!!!!!!!
Staff members will be assigned
to supervise students during arrival and dismissal times.
They are expected to enforce the procedures listed in this memo.
Please treat them with respect as they are simply trying to facilitate
the movement of our students in and out of the building.
Arrival Procedures
School begins at 8:35 a.m.
Students will not be allowed in the building before 8:15 a.m. unless they
are eating breakfast. Please keep
crayons, markers, paper and/or books in your child’s tote bag so that they will
have something to do in the cafeteria after they eat.
There are adults in the cafeteria to supervise the children while they
are eating. We encourage the
children to walk alone into the building and to their classroom to help them
learn independence. Students are
considered tardy if they arrive in the classroom after 8:35 a.m.
If your child is tardy, you must walk him/her to the office and fill out
a tardy slip.
Breakfast
Breakfast will start at 8:00
a.m. Students who arrive at 8:00
a.m. need to be dropped off in the second parking lot in front of the building.
Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria at 8:25 a.m.
Staff members will monitor the halls to ensure that students are making
their way quickly to their classrooms.
Bus Students
All buses serving our school
will park in their assigned space in the bus parking lot (first parking area in
front of school).
Please remember that cars are not
permitted in this zone. Bus
students will enter the building through the cafeteria doors and remain there
until 8:15 a.m.
Car Riders
We recommend that you do not
plan to park, but use the Drop-Off Zone.
The Drop-Off
Zone for grades K-1 will be at the rear of the building.
Please follow the signs to the back of the building and drop your child
off at the back center doors.
Grades 2-5 Drop-Off Zone is located in the second front parking lot.
Please, pull in and drop your child off near the front doors.
There is no parking permitted
in these zones.
Families, who have kids in K-1
grade levels, please drop off your children in the K-1 Drop-Off Zone, located at
the back of school.
Walkers and Bike Riders
All Wakefield walkers and
bikers will enter through the cafeteria door.
Please remember students are not permitted to enter the building until
8:15 a.m. unless they are eating
breakfast; therefore, they should time their arrival accordingly.
Late Arrivals
Any student arriving after 8:35
a.m. must be accompanied by a parent to the Main Office to be signed in.
Students are not permitted to sign themselves in, nor are they permitted
into class without a late pass.
Dismissal Procedures
Walkers and Bike Riders
LvES Staff will walk students
to the lobby for dismissal at 3:35 p.m.
Walkers will be released after buses have left the school.
If you desire for your child to walk or ride a bike home, you must
fill out and file a walker or biker permission form with the office.
Car Riders
We will begin dismissal with
car riders. If you need to pick up
your child early for any reason, you must do so through the office.
You may not go to the room to pick up your child.
The office must call children for early dismissals for safety reasons.
They will also ask you to show a
picture ID for verification that your child is being sent home with an
appropriate person.
Dismissal can be a stressful
time for younger students. Be
certain to discuss with your child their route home.
If you wish for your child to go
home in a different manner, you must send a written note.
Do not rely on your child to tell us this information; we must have a
note to send you child home in a different way.
If no written note is received, children will be sent home by their usual
method of transportation.
In order to ensure the safety
of all children, please follow these established guidelines:
·
REMAIN
in your
car at all times. Unattended cars
cause huge traffic jams. Please
turn off engine and refrain from cell phone use during dismissal.
LvES staff will direct the traffic flow.
·
PARK IN DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY.
Children will load
vehicles within designated lanes.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT
or wait at the dismissal area for your child.
Car Loading Procedure
·
Students will wait quietly with a grade level teacher in an
assigned area.
·
The parents will drive to the back of the building circling
around to the Drop Off/Pick Up Zone.
·
Parents will not be allowed to park on the side or back of
the building to pick up their child.
·
Car Rider ID Cards(s) are to be given to the car-rider
staff to pick up your child.
·
To expedite car dismissal, parents are asked not to leave
their cars.
·
To ensure the security of each child, individuals without a
car rider ID will be unable to pick up a child.
These individuals will be redirected to a parking area and must report to
the office to sign a log-out sheet for their child’s release.
·
Students who are not picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be
dismissed to SACC and fees will be assessed.
·
LvES personnel will assist your child.
These guidelines will ensure safety for all children and an expedient
dismissal process. Thanks for your
cooperation!
Bus Riders
As grade levels are called,
teachers will escort their classes to the cafeteria.
When buses arrive, an LvES staff member will walk the students to their
assigned bus.
After School Program
SACC teachers will pick
students up from their classes.
·
Dropping a child off in the
front or back of the school before 8:15 a.m. is not permitted.
This area is not supervised by any staff and the doors are locked. The
doors open promptly at 8:15.
·
During the day, all side
entrances are locked.
All visitors to the building must come through the front door and
go to the Main Office for a visitor’s pass.
·
If it is a
change in bus stop, a hand-written note must be sent in the morning.
Any other transportation change must be received via email to the teacher
and office by 12 noon that day.
·
Older Siblings
will locate younger siblings in assigned area for dismissal.
