Grant Information
The Middle College High School has been the recipient of a number of grants through its brief history. This page will provide information on past and current grants.
2005 - 2006
MCHS applied for and obtained three grants in
the past school year. The main grant was with North Tennessee WorkForce
Board, Inc. The purpose of this grant is to help students not only at MCHS
but other county high schools to improve their ACT scores, meet Gateway
requirements, raise reading and or math scores, encourage seniors to graduate,
and provide job skills. After graduation, there will be a follow up of the
students to see if they are employed, seeking post graduate education, or
enlisted in the military. The goal was to enroll 20 students in the grant
and we enrolled 23. Other students were also served by this grant even
though they were not enrolled. The exit information will be provided
at a later date.
The second grant was with the South Central Tennessee Tech
Prep Consortium. This grant allowed us to purchase three books to be used
in the Career Management Success class and allowed us to have a business
luncheon with our business team.
The third grant was awarded this spring but will not become
active until the fall or spring semester of the 2006-2007 school year.
This grant has not been announced publicly as of this writing and therefore we
cannot provide detailed information. This grant will aid some of our dual
enrolled students.
2003-2006
Nashville State Technical Community College and MCHS were the recipients of a three year nearly $600,000 grant from the United States Department of Education. This grant was funded by Perkins Money. The purpose was to establish an Informational Technology Academy within the Middle College. In order to receive this grant, we had to be a high school on a college campus. We were not able to re-apply for this grant due to our move to our own campus in Franklin.
