WELCOME TO MIDDLE COLLEGE HIGH
SCHOOL

The Williamson County Schools in conjunction
with Nashville State Technical Community College opened the doors to
Williamson County Middle College High School in 1998. In January 2005,
the school moved to a temporary location before re-locating in March 2005 at
its new permanent campus at 108 Everbright Avenue in Franklin. Middle
College High School is a collaborative, yet innovative program designed to
meet the needs of Williamson County students who possess academic potential,
but are searching for a new environment to successfully complete high
school.
Middle
College, a school of choice for
Williamson County students grades 9 - 12,
is a “school of opportunity” for students
who show potential for success and may or may not have flourished in
traditional high school classrooms. Students come to Middle College
for various reasons unique to their
individual experiences. Our students continue to grow academically and
socially due to a smaller student body and the nurturing but challenging
atmosphere provided to all of our students.
Middle
College
places students within a unique
setting to motivate them to finish high school and set goals for attending
college. MCHS provides a guidance-based approach to all school experiences
with a heavy emphasis upon emulating adults around them and bridging the gap
between high school and college through its dual enrollment program;
eventually preparing students for higher education and the world of work.
Middle College offers a flexible schedule with the possibility of high
school night classes. At MCHS, we
understand that to prepare students for college and the real world, we must
increase the use of technology in the classroom. We strive to integrate
technology into our entire curriculum.
Each student will complete a combination academic and service learning
project that begins when they enroll into MCHS and will be completed by the
end of their senior year which will exhibit the skills they have obtained
during their enrollment at Middle College.
Every staff member is a mentor,
advisor, and student advocate whose daily priority is to establish solid
caring relationships between teachers, students, and peer groups to accept
them as individuals. Therefore, this creates a sense of family which
enhances the school environment. Middle College
is a place to get a “fresh start” in
high school and to move toward the successful
journey to the future.
SITE BASED MANAGEMENT
The faculty at Middle College High School is very active in the
decision making process. We meet weekly and are constantly evaluating and
considering improvements to our program. The faculty also takes part in the interviewing
of prospective students.
SPECIAL CLASSES
All Middle College High School students are
active in a non credit Focus class. This class is the heart to all of the
Middle College goals. Currently, the students have decided to use the term
Tribe instead of Focus.
Students attending Middle College High School
had the opportunity to be a part of the Information Technology Academy, which
was established by a three year $600,000 grant from the United States Department
of Education.
The grant ended June 30, 2005.
Juniors take a course that is part of Middle College
Consortium recommendation; that class is the American Studies History
Project. This class is a double period class and combines the English III
and U.S. History curriculum. This course is not offered every year.
FUTURE TECHNOLOGY PLANS
At MCHS, we understand the importance of
technology. We strive to integrate technology into all of our subjects.
The following are ways that we hope to improve our technology:
Our teachers will continue to take technology
training sessions.
Our teachers will continue to integrate
technology into the curriculum.
We have established an email directory
for our parents.
We are beginning our training with teachers
and students that will allow them to use Share Point.
