Traffic Patterns

Morning Drop – Off

6:30 am – 8:05 am:  Students must be enrolled in Fun Company to arrive at school this early.  Fun Company drop-off is in the front of the building at the cafeteria doors.

8:05 am – 8:35 am:  Parents may drop off students at the back center doors during this time.  Please do not stop right at the center doors – but instead, pull forward so that many cars can pull in against the sidewalk.  Please do not use the inside lane in the morning.  Students walk directly to the gym until they are dismissed at 8:25.  The back doors will be locked at 8:35.

If your children are going to walk or ride their bikes to school, please use the sidewalk provided just off Newsome Lane.  The bike rack has not arrived yet but it will be on the right corner of the building in the back (as you are facing the building).

All students need to be in their classrooms by 8:35 to avoid tardies.  If you arrive late, you will need to park in the front right parking lot and sign your child in at the office.

Afternoon Pick – Up

Bus Riders:  We have 5 bus routes.  We encourage you to use the free bus service provided by our district.   If you have problems with the bus, please feel free to call the principal (472-4690) or call transportation (472 – 4950).

Walkers & Bike Riders: These students meet with a teacher who will walk them to the Ballenger Farms sidewalk.  They meet at the end of the 1st Avenue (E Wing) – near the playground.

Car-Riders

  1. Parents can enter the property from Newsome Lane or Rocky Fork Road to pick up students at the back center doors.
  2. We fill two lanes; ask all traffic to stop; parents either stand by their cars and wave to children – or walk to the concrete pad to assist children to their cars; teachers dismiss the two lanes one at a time; the process is repeated.
  3. All drivers must have a school tag in their possession to pick up students.  If you need additional tags, please call the school.
  4. All traffic exits on Rocky Fork Road.   On most days all car rider students are safely on their way home by 3:50.
  5. WHEN IT RAINS:  We will use the same basic car-rider process with these changes.

§         Students will be inside - waiting along the walls - in line – grouped alphabetically by last names and monitored by classroom teachers.

§         Our dismissal team (Specials teachers) will have walkie-talkies.  2 of them will be stationed inside the building.  The others will be outside.  Two teachers on the outside will walk along the parked group of cars … getting the names of students needed to fill those cars.  That information will be relayed via walkie-talkies until the first group of cars is full.  We will repeat that process.
