OPEN RESEARCH GUIDELINES

Open Checkout vs. Open Research

o Open Checkout is…

· Returning, finding, and checking out books

· No more than 3 students at a time

· With a library pass

· 8:00 am – 11:25 am / 11:55 am – 3:00 pm

o Open Research is…

· Using the library’s resources (print and non-print)

· Not a time for individual or whole-class checkout (unless the books pertain to the research project)

· Not a time for non-research based computer time (i.e. Type 2 Learn, etc.)

o Individual Research is…

· No more than 3 students at a time

· With a pass (stating topic, preferred method(s) of research, etc.)

· During open research hours

· Without classroom teacher supervision

· Supervised and directed by the librarian

o Class Research is…

· To be scheduled ahead of time with a phone call (4696)

· During open research hours

· With classroom teacher supervision and direction
