Spelling
and Grammar–
This week’s spelling will tie in to our grammar
by using
familiar common and proper nouns to use and spell properly.
Reading
– Students have been enjoying our animal adventure book club
books. We hope the animals we receive for science will be as
fun! Please be sure
to meet the November reading goal:
one animal and one free-choice book.
Report ideas can be obtained from each teacher.
Vocabulary – We have made many
connections in our Word Wisdom vocabulary and our science
and social studies units.
Coming up soon will be the review test, which covers
the past three lists (30 words).
Study up!
Writing
– We continue to work on the organization of writing
paragraphs. We are
also emphasizing staying on topic and adding important
details to our writing.
Math
– We have completed our unit about long division.
We will continue to practice all large number
computation each week.
Please don’t forget those “easy” facts!
Our next unit is on time, elapsed time, and graphing.
Social
Studies – We are now in the time
period of the early English colonies in “the Americas,” so
named for Amerigo Vespucci.
Be sure not to miss our fourth grade program to find
out more about our American history!
Science
– We have recently considered the relationships among cells,
tissues, organs, and organ systems.
We have also studied about the parts and functions of
plants and both animal and plant cells.
This week, we should be receiving our live animals:
African dwarf frogs, fiddler crabs, and millipedes.
