During Art the students learn all about the Elements of Art; line, shape, color, texture, value, space and form.  These are like the abc’s, they make up different types of artwork.  We also learn about the Principles of Design; rhythm, emphasis, pattern, balance, variety, and proportion.

I believe children need many opportunities to create art.  While creating art, students understand and experiment with various sources of inspiration for creative work. 

We will work with many different media such as paint, pastel, oil pastel, tissue paper, clay and printing ink.  We also learn about artists that create artwork of many different styles ranging from portraits to complete abstraction. 

The goals in art are to learn to look for detail around you, improve creativity, improve drawing skills and to have lots of fun creating!
